Very Disappointed, April 4, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kettler Candy Girls' Bike (16-Inch Wheels) (Sports) We paid extra for the Kettler name because we wanted to avoid poorly made, potentially dangerous merchandise from big box stores. We had previously purchased a Kettler tricycle for our child and were very pleased with the German made quality. Knowing that more and more manufacturers are moving production to China, I investigated this pretty thoroughly. I did not attempt to contact Kettler and I wish I had.
When I received the bike and assembled it, the first thing I noticed was the atrocious quality of the welds. Any first year trade school student could do better. The welds are pitted and jagged. If any quality control procedure at all had been in place, this bike would have been rejected. This prompted me to look closely at the box where I found the "Made in China" label.
Please understand that I have nothing against the people of China. They are certainly capable of producing high quality goods. The sole reason any Western corporation moves production overseas... Read more
